At the time of this post we have simulated 30 hours and there have been many changes made along the way. I thought now would be a good time to update on the "behind the scenes" changes taking place weekly.
The original plan was to keep things as prototypical as possible, but I wanted to keep things interesting for those running on the server. With PSR now being used the number of trains passing through our route is a fraction of what it used to be. I then looked at using traffic from the mid-2000s era, which the route is modeled after. After digging through several websites of train symbols there were many similarities and differences.
I've decided to adopt a mix of both eras. Many of the through freights are symbols I found in the 2000s data. This means we will average about 100 trains a day. Trains in and out of Waycross, Moncrief, and Duval are a mix of both eras, but the majority are coming from the 2000s, again this is due to more traffic in and out of Waycross. Many of the local symbols (the best I can tell) are from current operations. From the information I've gathered, it appears the territory these locals cover are constantly changing. This is especially true around Moncrief. I have looked at the locals closely and made decisions mainly on member availability. I tried to keep the locals small with the possibility to be worked during a single dispatched session. There are some long distance locals that could not be avoided (A768 and A753 come to mind), but I tried to add as many local symbols as possible to divide the work up.
The short of it is, I've tried to give us the most traffic with smaller locals to work in one session where possible.
As always, if there are any comments or suggestions I'm always looking at ways to improve the sim.
